Installing the HPE Morpheus HVM host as the foundation for a KVM‑based virtualization environment
In this post, I walk through installing the HPE Morpheus HVM host as the foundation for a KVM‑based virtualization environment that can coexist with—and gradually VMware infrastructure. HPE Morpheus VM Essentials uses the HVM hypervisor to deliver enterprise features such as high availability, live migration, intelligent workload placement, and support for external storage (NFS, iSCSI, Fibre Channel), all managed from a single control plane. The installation process starts by deploying the HVM OS on each physical host, then configuring networking and storage before registering the hosts with the Morpheus manager appliance.
In the video below, I show the end‑to‑end steps I used to bring up an HVM host, including initial OS install, basic network setup with seperated management and storage networks, and preparation for manager integration.
